Sir Ben Kingsley has opened up about life with his wife, actress and filmmaker Daniela Lavender, saying he feels "beautiful and deeply happy" as the couple continue to collaborate on several creative projects together.
Speaking to People while promoting his latest film Young Washington, the Oscar-winning actor said much of his happiness comes from his marriage to Lavender, whom he wed in 2007.
"My life these days is beautiful and deeply happy and full of blessings," Kingsley said. "I'm married to a wonderful woman who's a writer and we are developing six projects."
The 82-year-old revealed that, after decades in front of the camera, he is gradually expanding his role behind the scenes by moving into producing alongside his wife through their production company, Lavender Pictures.
Despite juggling multiple film projects and international travel, Kingsley said the pair have found a healthy balance between work and their personal lives in the English countryside.
Asked how they manage it all, the actor joked, "Not very successfully," before quickly adding with a laugh, "I'm being a little facetious. I think we balance it very well indeed."
While Kingsley is embracing producing, he has no intention of stepping away from acting anytime soon.
"I won't stop acting unless I get shot in the leg and put down like an old horse," he quipped, adding that he and Lavender simply "love what we're doing and we love storytelling."
The couple regularly exchange creative ideas, with Kingsley revealing that one of the first things he plans to do after finishing his latest promotional tour is read the newest pages of Lavender's script and offer feedback.
Kingsley recently starred as Robert Dinwiddie in Young Washington and reprised his Marvel role as Trevor Slattery in Wonder Man. He is also set to appear in Fortitude, Sonic the Hedgehog 4 and the fourth season of HBO's The White Lotus.
After nearly two decades of marriage, Kingsley said his partnership with Lavender remains rooted in a shared passion for filmmaking and storytelling, allowing them to build both a successful creative collaboration and a fulfilling life together.
