Paul McCartney performs Beatles classic at Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding reception
McCartney took to the stage to perform the Beatles' 1963 chart-topper 'I Want to Hold Your Hand'

Sir Paul McCartney delighted guests at Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's star-studded wedding by performing one of The Beatles' most beloved songs during the couple's reception at New York City's Madison Square Garden.
According to People, the 84-year-old music legend took to the stage to perform the Beatles' 1963 chart-topper I Want to Hold Your Hand, earning a standing ovation from the newlyweds and their guests. The performance was one of several musical highlights during the lavish celebration on 3 July.
McCartney's appearance carried special significance given his long-standing friendship with Swift. The pair famously appeared together on the cover of Rolling Stone in 2020, where they interviewed each other about songwriting, fame and their careers. In the years since, they have continued to support one another, with McCartney attending Swift's Eras Tour and Swift making appearances at his concerts.
The Beatles icon was among an extensive list of celebrity guests at the wedding, which also included Tom Hanks, Hugh Grant, Steven Spielberg, Bradley Cooper, Gigi Hadid, Selena Gomez, Gracie Abrams and Ed Sheeran. Guests described the ceremony as intimate despite taking place inside the 20,000-seat Madison Square Garden.
McCartney was not the only music legend to perform during the reception. Fleetwood Mac singer Stevie Nicks also took to the stage, adding another memorable moment to the evening. The performances reflected Swift's close relationships with several generations of music icons.
The ceremony itself was officiated by actor Adam Sandler, while Swift and Kelce exchanged handwritten vows that guests described as emotional, humorous and deeply personal. Swift wore a custom Christian Dior Haute Couture gown designed by Jonathan Anderson, while Kelce opted for a bespoke Dior tuxedo.
McCartney's surprise performance quickly became one of the standout moments from the celebration, with guests describing the reception as a unique blend of music, family and friendship. His rendition of I Want to Hold Your Hand served as a fitting tribute to the newlyweds, bringing together one of Britain's most iconic musicians and one of the world's biggest pop stars on a memorable night.
