Megyn Kelly has criticised Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding celebration, describing the couple's decision to hold the event at Madison Square Garden as "gauche."
Speaking on her podcast alongside Daily Mail columnist Maureen Callahan, Kelly questioned the choice of venue for the high-profile ceremony, which took place in New York City.
"It's like, at first I really did not believe that she and he would get married at Madison Square Garden. It's so on the nose in terms of like, attention getting, and just so gauche," Kelly said.
Swift and Kelce's multi-day wedding celebrations attracted widespread attention, with reports indicating that the event closed streets in Midtown Manhattan and drew hundreds of celebrity guests.
According to the source material, the wedding ceremony began on Friday and continued into the early hours of Saturday, with the Associated Press reporting that the event permit ran until 4 a.m. ET.
The celebration also prompted large gatherings of Swift's fans, commonly known as "Swifties," with some reportedly travelling to New York City to celebrate the singer's wedding. While many fans welcomed the occasion, the source noted that some critics described the event as "tacky" or "performative."
During the discussion, Callahan also criticised the scale of the ceremony.
"This is like a 7-year-old's idea of what a grand wedding is," she said, later describing it as "Taylor's big fat Disney wedding."
Kelly continued by comparing Swift's public profile to that of Meghan Markle.
"You know, she's got a little Meghan Markle in her, where, notwithstanding the fact that we all know who she is, she's got to make sure she's reminding us all she's relevant. She's everywhere. 'Admire me, look at me,'" Kelly said. "So, yeah, it actually does kind of track."
Callahan also joked that Swift's wedding would "be a Netflix special."
The remarks add to the wider public discussion surrounding the celebrity wedding, which has generated significant attention online and across entertainment media since the couple exchanged vows at Madison Square Garden.
