Beyoncé has surprised fans with the release of "Morning Dew (Donk)," a previously unheard song recorded during the sessions for her 2006 album B'Day, ahead of the record's upcoming 20th anniversary reissue.

The Grammy-winning singer dropped the track without prior announcement over the Fourth of July weekend, marking her first new music since the release of Cowboy Carter in 2024. The song will appear on a special anniversary edition of B'Day, which is set for release on September 4, exactly 20 years after the original album debuted.

According to a statement from Beyoncé's team, "Morning Dew (Donk)" is "a direct nod to her loyal BeyHive to commemorate the upcoming epic celebration of B'Day." The release is accompanied by a lyric video featuring archival footage shot by photographer Cliff Watts during the B'Day era.

The track was co-written by Beyoncé alongside Pharrell Williams, The-Dream and Darius Dixon, with production handled by Beyoncé and Pharrell. Although recorded nearly two decades ago, the song captures the energetic R&B sound that defined the B'Day era and offers fans a glimpse into music that never made the original album.

Rumours surrounding a song titled "Donk" have circulated among fans for years after it was registered with the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) in 2014. Its official release has finally confirmed the existence of the long-speculated track.

Originally released in 2006, B'Day debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and produced several of Beyoncé's biggest hits, including "Déjà Vu," "Ring the Alarm," "Irreplaceable" and "Beautiful Liar." The album also earned the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary R&B Album and remains one of the defining records of her solo career.

While Beyoncé has yet to reveal the full track list or additional content for the anniversary edition, the release of "Morning Dew (Donk)" has fuelled excitement among fans, many of whom are hoping more unreleased songs from the B'Day sessions will be included in the reissue.
