Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have officially tied the knot, exchanging vows in a lavish yet intimate ceremony at New York City's Madison Square Garden after months of speculation surrounding their wedding plans.
The couple's marriage was confirmed on Friday by Swift's publicist, while giant screens outside the iconic venue lit up with the message, "JUST&T MARRIED!" marking the end of one of pop culture's most closely followed engagements.
One of the ceremony's biggest surprises was the choice of officiant. Actor Adam Sandler, a longtime friend of the couple, presided over the wedding after obtaining a one-day marriage officiant licence in New York. According to TMZ, Sandler also performed a humorous yet heartfelt song during the reception, reprising his role from The Wedding Singer.
Sandler's involvement held special meaning for the couple. Swift previously revealed that her song Wi$h Li$t—which imagines a future with Kelce—was inspired by Sandler's character in Happy Gilmore, who escapes to his "happy place" during stressful moments. Kelce also made a cameo in Happy Gilmore 2 last year.
Fashion also took centre stage, with both Swift and Kelce wearing custom Christian Dior Haute Couture designed by Jonathan Anderson, Dior's creative director. Swift's spokesperson confirmed that Anderson worked closely with the couple to create their wedding looks, with the gown marking his first couture bridal design for a globally recognised celebrity.
Swift completed her bridal ensemble with custom Christian Louboutin shoes and Cartier jewellery, while Kelce also wore a bespoke Dior design.
Breaking with tradition, Swift selected her younger brother, Austin Swift, as her "man of honour" instead of having a maid of honour. Kelce's brother, former NFL star Jason Kelce, served as best man. The couple also opted not to have bridesmaids or groomsmen.
The guest list reportedly included around 1,000 attendees from across the worlds of music, film, television and sport. Confirmed guests included Selena Gomez, Camila Cabello, Hugh Grant, Gracie Abrams, Gigi Hadid, Bradley Cooper, Tom Hanks, Millie Bobby Brown, Ellie Goulding, Graham Norton, Dakota Johnson and Steven Spielberg, while several other high-profile celebrities were rumoured to have attended.
Although guests largely kept the celebrations private, rapper Nelly shared a brief message on Instagram congratulating the newlyweds, while BBC Radio 1 presenter Greg James confirmed he attended after receiving a personal invitation from Swift.
Inside the venue, Madison Square Garden was transformed into what guests described as a lush countryside garden. Good Morning America host George Stephanopoulos called it "a garden inside the Garden," saying the celebration felt remarkably intimate despite the scale of the venue.
Fleetwood Mac icon Stevie Nicks reportedly performed during the reception, while Swift is said to have walked down the aisle to a string arrangement of one of her own songs. According to TMZ, the décor blended themes from Alice in Wonderland and The Wizard of Oz, featuring elaborate floral displays, garden-inspired sets and theatrical staging.
By choosing Madison Square Garden, the couple were also able to keep the ceremony almost entirely hidden from paparazzi and drones, allowing one of the year's most anticipated celebrity weddings to remain largely private despite the worldwide attention surrounding it.
