Lewis Hamilton has made a rare public comment about his relationship with Kim Kardashian, crediting the reality star and entrepreneur for his happiness during a fan event ahead of the British Grand Prix.
The Ferrari driver appeared on stage at Silverstone on July 2 when broadcaster David Croft remarked that Hamilton seemed much happier both on and off the track this year.
"Lewis, on the track and off the track, you are a much happier man this year, and for everyone here, that is great to see."
As the crowd cheered, another driver jokingly asked whether the change was due to "a fast car or a new girlfriend." Hamilton smiled before replying, "Yeah, that's a good one."
The conversation then turned to a light-hearted moment from the Monaco Grand Prix involving Kim Kardashian and Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli. Croft joked, "You know why he's asking? He just needs to know if Kimi needs two towels or not."
Hamilton went on to praise Ferrari for welcoming him during his first season with the team and spoke about the progress they have made together.
"It's such an amazing team and they've been so welcoming. The first year was obviously very tough but to finally see the hard work we're all putting in, it's finally get us back to where we want to be."
He concluded with a direct reference to Kardashian. "And of course, of course, it's Kim." The crowd responded with another round of cheers.
Hamilton and Kardashian were first linked romantically in February. The SKIMS founder attended the Monaco Grand Prix in June, where Hamilton finished second. During a post-race press conference, he thanked her for her support.
"It's amazing to have her come this weekend and have the support... It's amazing to have good people around you and good people supporting you and she does that for me every day."
According to PEOPLE, a source said in June that the pair are "such a chill couple together" and that "everything feels very easy and light."
