Faisalabad ramps up heatwave response
.

As an intense heatwave grips Faisalabad amid rising temperatures linked to climate change, the district administration has established heatwave relief camps across the city to protect residents from heat-related illnesses.
The camps, set up at key public locations, are providing cold drinking water, first aid and emergency medical assistance.
Heatwave counters have also been established at government hospitals, where additional beds have been arranged to cater to patients suffering from heat-related conditions.
Chief Officer of the Metropolitan Corporation, Usman Ghani, said the administration had set up relief camps at multiple locations, including near the City Mayor's Office and the District Council Office.
"Our local government teams are providing chilled drinking water at the camps, while allied departments, including the Health Department, are extending medical and other essential services," he said.
The health department has also intensified its public awareness campaign, urging citizens to take precautionary measures to avoid heatstroke and dehydration.
Chief Executive Officer (Health) Dr Muhammad Shahzad Mahmood, said the Punjab government was taking comprehensive steps to safeguard public health during the ongoing heatwave.
"Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is deeply concerned about the well-being of the people and has directed all departments to implement preventive measures under the Healthy Punjab initiative," he said.
Dr Mahmood said extra beds had been arranged in government hospitals, while medical staff had been deployed at heatwave camps established across the district.
Oral Rehydration Salts (ORS) and other essential medical supplies are also being provided to visitors at the camps.
