Three killed in separate incidents
Three people, including a 75-year-old woman, were killed in separate incidents across Rawalpindi on Wednesday, police said.
In one incident, a young labourer was allegedly stabbed to death following a dispute over an accidental collision while loading goods in the City Police Station jurisdiction.
According to police, complainant Waqar Abbasi stated that his 18-year-old brother, Rehman Abbas, was employed at a crockery shop in Qasai Gali. The victim was loading merchandise onto a vehicle bound for Islamabad late at night when he accidentally bumped into an unidentified youth, believed to be around 17 or 18 years old, who was passing through the area from Urdu Bazaar.
The minor altercation quickly escalated, during which the suspect allegedly produced a knife and repeatedly stabbed Rehman Abbas before fleeing towards Raja Bazaar.
The injured man was rushed to hospital but succumbed to his injuries. Police have registered a murder case and are working to identify and apprehend the suspect. In a separate incident within the limits of Civil Lines Police Station, a 75-year-old woman was found dead at her residence under suspicious circumstances.
The deceased's son, Muhammad Shehzad, told police that he returned home to find his mother, Zahra Khatoon, unresponsive. Initially believing she had died of natural causes, the family later noticed marks of violence on her body while preparing her for burial.
According to the complainant, injuries were visible on her neck and the back of her head, raising suspicions that she had been murdered.
