Disgraced former glam rock singer Gary Glitter has been charged with four additional historic sexual offences involving a girl under the age of 13, British prosecutors have confirmed.
The 82-year-old, whose real name is Paul Gadd, has been charged with one count of unlawful sexual intercourse with a girl under 13 and three counts of indecent assault on a girl under 14. The alleged offences are said to have taken place between 1978 and 1981 at a residential address in Kensington, west London.
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) authorised the charges following an investigation by the Metropolitan Police. Prosecutors said the allegations were made by a woman who reported the incidents to police in January, 2025.
Bethan David, Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor for CPS London North, said the CPS had carefully reviewed the evidence before concluding that there was a realistic prospect of conviction and that bringing the case was in the public interest.
She also reminded the public that criminal proceedings are now active and that Gadd is entitled to a fair trial.
The Metropolitan Police said officers interviewed Gadd in prison in July, 2025, before submitting a file of evidence to the CPS for consideration.
Gadd is currently serving a 16-year prison sentence after being convicted in 2015 of attempted rape, unlawful sexual intercourse with a girl under 13 and multiple indecent assaults involving three schoolgirls. He was released on licence in February, 2023, but was recalled to prison the following month for breaching his licence conditions. His latest bid for parole was refused in 2025.
The former singer is due to appear before Westminster Magistrates' Court on August 5, 2026, to face the new charges.
Once one of Britain's biggest glam rock stars with hits including Rock and Roll Part 2 and I'm the Leader of the Gang (I Am), Gadd's career collapsed following a series of convictions for child sexual abuse offences. The latest charges add to his long history of criminal proceedings involving historic allegations.
