RAWALPINDI:

Two sessions courts in Rawalpindi district have awarded severe punishments, including death sentences and heavy fines, to four convicts in two separate murder cases registered at Chontra and Chakri police stations.

According to details, Additional District and Sessions Judge Rawalpindi sentenced two convicts, Zulfiqar and Iftikhar, to death and imposed a fine of Rs2 million each in a murder case registered at Chontra Police Station. Another convict, Gulbaz, was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment along with a fine of Rs500,000 and compensation of Rs200,000.

In a separate case registered at Chakri Police Station, convicts Iftikhar and Gulbaz were awarded death sentences and fined Rs2 million each. The convicts had killed one person and injured another in the Chontra area in October 2021 over an old enmity, while in another incident in September 2022 in Chakri, they killed another person.
