Warner Bros. is developing a ‘Siren Head’ movie with Zach Cregger and Brian Duffield after a major bidding war

Warner Bros. Pictures has secured the rights to develop a Siren Head movie, bringing the viral internet horror phenomenon to the big screen following a competitive bidding war involving multiple major studios.

The project marks another significant step in Hollywood's growing interest in adapting internet-born horror properties for theatrical audiences.

Created by Canadian artist Trevor Henderson in 2018, Siren Head became an online sensation after its unsettling creature design spread across social media. The towering skeletal monster, recognised for the pair of sirens replacing its head, inspired millions of fan videos, games, artwork and online theories, transforming it into one of the internet's most recognisable horror icons.

According to industry reports, Weapons filmmaker Zach Cregger is co-writing the screenplay with Brian Duffield, who is also expected to direct the film. Cregger will additionally serve as a producer alongside Roy Lee, Andrew Childs, Scott Glassgold and Duffield.

The acquisition reportedly followed an intense five-studio bidding war that included Sony Pictures, Universal Pictures, Paramount Pictures and 20th Century Studios before Warner Bros. Pictures secured the project. Reports indicate the agreement includes a theatrical release, reflecting the studio's confidence in the property's commercial potential.

The announcement comes as Hollywood increasingly looks to internet horror franchises after the recent success of adaptations inspired by online communities and viral storytelling.
