Lionel Messi has made a surprise appearance alongside Spider-Man in a new promotional teaser for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, giving football and Marvel fans an unexpected crossover to discuss ahead of the film's release.

The teaser features Messi meeting Spider-Man in a brief promotional moment tied to the upcoming Marvel Studios film. While the football icon is not part of the movie's cast, his appearance in the campaign has generated significant attention online and sparked conversation across social media.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day marks Tom Holland's return as Peter Parker following the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home. The film continues Peter's story after Doctor Strange's spell erased the world's memory of his identity, leaving him to begin a new chapter as a more isolated superhero protecting New York City.

The fourth Spider-Man film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton from a screenplay by Chris McKenna, Erik Sommers, and Justin Kuritzkes. Alongside Holland, the cast includes Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Sadie Sink, Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/The Punisher, and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/The Hulk.

Marvel has indicated that the new film will take a more grounded approach, focusing on Peter Parker's life as a neighbourhood hero while introducing a major new threat. The title draws inspiration from the 2008 Marvel Comics storyline Brand New Day, which reset Spider-Man's status quo and began a new era for the character.

Filming took place across Scotland and England, including Pinewood Studios. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on 31 July, serving as one of the key releases in Phase Six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Messi's unexpected promotional appearance has only added to anticipation surrounding the film's debut.
