Angelina Jolie says she hasn't dated since Brad Pitt divorce: 'Life has broken me a little bit'

Angelina Jolie has revealed that she has not dated anyone since her split from Brad Pitt nearly a decade ago, admitting that the end of their marriage left her emotionally changed as she focused on raising their six children.

Speaking to Yahoo Entertainment while promoting her new film Couture, Jolie shared a rare update on her personal life, saying romance has not been a priority since her relationship with Pitt ended.

"I haven't dated since I divorced a decade ago," Jolie said, adding that "life has broken me a little bit." She explained that she devoted herself to her family and needed time to rediscover who she was outside of motherhood.

Jolie and Pitt began their relationship after meeting on the set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith in 2005. They married in 2014 before Jolie filed for divorce in September 2016. Their lengthy legal battle officially concluded in December 2024. The former couple share six children: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Knox and Vivienne.

The Oscar winner said her children have played a major role in helping her regain her confidence and sense of purpose. Now that they are older, she said they have encouraged her to embrace life beyond being a parent.

"My children have helped me find my fighting spirit again," Jolie explained, adding that they want to see her "live" and rediscover herself.

Jolie made the comments while discussing Couture, in which she plays Maxine Walker, an American filmmaker whose life changes after a breast cancer diagnosis. The actress said the role resonated with her because it explores balancing personal identity with motherhood and learning to move forward after hardship.

While Brad Pitt has been in a long-term relationship with jewellery executive Ines de Ramon, Jolie has largely kept her private life out of the spotlight. Her latest remarks mark one of the few times she has publicly addressed her dating life since the end of her marriage.
