'Obsession' dominates IMDb's most popular movies chart for another week
'Obsession' remains IMDb's most popular movie as the horror hit continues outperforming major Hollywood releases

Obsession has retained the top spot on IMDb's list of the most popular movies of the week, continuing its impressive run as one of 2026's biggest breakout horror successes.
The supernatural horror film, written, directed and edited by Curry Barker, leads a diverse weekly ranking that includes major studio releases, franchise blockbusters and critically acclaimed dramas. According to IMDb's latest popularity chart, Obsession remains ahead of high-profile titles including Disclosure Day, Toy Story 5, Voicemails for Isabelle, Backrooms, Michael and Masters of the Universe.
Starring Michael Johnston and Inde Navarrette, Obsession follows a music store employee whose wish for his childhood friend to fall in love with him unleashes terrifying supernatural consequences. Since its theatrical release in May, the film has become Focus Features' highest-grossing release of all time, earning more than $340 million worldwide while receiving widespread critical acclaim.
The latest IMDb rankings also highlight strong audience interest in several upcoming releases. Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Supergirl all feature prominently despite not yet reaching their full theatrical rollouts.
Elsewhere on the list, Project Hail Mary continues to generate positive word of mouth following its successful release, while Backrooms remains one of the year's biggest horror hits after becoming A24's highest-grossing film to date.
Other films making the weekly chart include Disclosure Day, Pressure, The Death of Robin Hood, Scary Movie, Michael, Masters of the Universe, Voicemails for Isabelle, Toy Story 5 and Australian horror film Leviticus.
The latest rankings demonstrate that horror, science fiction and franchise films continue to dominate online movie conversations, with Obsession maintaining its position as IMDb's most talked-about film of the week.
