Love Island contestant Gabriel Garland has left the villa after ITV learned of his connection to a 2019 stabbing case

Love Island contestant Gabriel Garland has been removed from the villa after ITV reportedly became aware of his connection to a 2019 stabbing case while the current season was already being filmed.

Garland, a 24-year-old model from London, entered the villa during the show's Casa Amor twist and made his on-screen debut on day 23. However, ITV later confirmed that he had left the programme and would not be returning.

According to Metro, court documents relating to the conviction of Vitor Mazzer reportedly name Garland as being present at a New Year's Eve party in southeast London in 2019, where two people were stabbed. The report states that the victims were involved in an altercation with Garland before Mazzer carried out the attack.

Garland was not charged with any criminal offence in connection with the incident. Mazzer was later convicted of two counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison. His appeal was dismissed in 2024.

In a statement provided to Metro, an ITV spokesperson said: "Gabriel has now left the villa and will not be returning." The broadcaster declined to provide any further comment.

Despite his exit, Garland's entrance into Casa Amor will still be shown in upcoming episodes, and ITV has no plans to replace him.

The removal comes just days after fellow contestant George Knight also exited the villa. Although ITV initially cited personal reasons, later reports indicated he had also been warned over the use of unacceptable language.

Garland's departure has prompted renewed criticism from viewers, with some questioning ITV's contestant vetting process following two high-profile exits during the current season.
