The viral indie multiplayer game Mecha Chameleon has surpassed 10 million copies sold on Steam, marking one of the fastest-selling independent game launches of 2026.

The milestone comes just 16 days after the game's release on June 10, highlighting its rapid rise in popularity among players and content creators.

Developed in only two months by a two-person team consisting of creator Lemorion_1224 and artist Haganeiro, Mecha Chameleon has gained widespread attention for its innovative gameplay and simple yet engaging mechanics.

Unlike traditional hide-and-seek games, where players disguise themselves as everyday objects, Mecha Chameleon introduces a unique camouflage system. Players must paint their white robotic characters to match their surroundings using a colour wheel and eyedropper tool, allowing them to blend into walls, floors and environmental objects while avoiding detection.

The distinctive gameplay has resonated with streamers and YouTubers, helping the title spread rapidly across Twitch, YouTube and social media platforms. The game's affordable price and accessible multiplayer experience have also contributed to its commercial success, encouraging new players to join through word-of-mouth recommendations.

Sales accelerated dramatically after launch. According to the developers, Mecha Chameleon reached 5 million copies sold within its first 10 days before doubling that figure to 10 million in just six more days.

The developers continue to support the game with frequent updates, releasing patches almost daily. They have also teased a major content expansion following Version 1.9.0, signalling plans to maintain player engagement as the indie hit continues to grow.
