Over 1,080 cops deployed for Muharram security

BAHAWALPUR:

More than 1,080 police officers and personnel have been deployed across Bahawalpur district to ensure security during 10th Muharram processions and religious gatherings, police officials said on Thursday.

As per a statement issued by the District Police Office, a total of 30 processions and 77 Majalis were scheduled to be held across the district on 9th Muharram.

Police officials said one procession and one Majlis have been placed in Category A, while two Majalis fall under Category B. The remaining processions and gatherings have been categorized as Category C based on security assessments.

The district police have implemented comprehensive security measures, including strict monitoring, checking and surveillance at all venues and procession routes. Officials said security arrangements are being continuously reviewed to ensure the safety of participants and maintain law and order.
