Netflix has officially revealed when fans can expect to embark on a new journey with the Straw Hat Pirates.

During the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, the streaming giant confirmed that The One Piece will premiere in February 2027, marking a major milestone for the highly anticipated anime remake first announced in 2023. Alongside the release window, Netflix also unveiled the project's first official teaser, offering viewers their best look yet at the reimagined version of Eiichiro Oda's beloved story.

Developed by WIT Studio, the acclaimed animation house behind Spy x Family and the early seasons of Attack on Titan, The One Piece aims to modernize the East Blue Saga while remaining faithful to the original manga. The new series is designed to introduce newcomers to Luffy's adventure without requiring them to navigate the more than 1,100 episodes of the long-running anime adaptation.

The first season will reportedly consist of seven episodes and adapt roughly the first 50 chapters of Oda's manga. Viewers can expect to follow Monkey D. Luffy as he begins assembling the Straw Hat Pirates, recruiting key crew members including Zoro, Nami, and Usopp before continuing his journey toward the Grand Line.

The newly released teaser showcases a vibrant visual overhaul, combining modern animation techniques with character designs and settings that remain recognizable to longtime fans. According to the creative team, another key goal is to stay closer to the source material, avoiding some of the changes and censorship that appeared in earlier adaptations.

The remake is only one part of Netflix's growing One Piece universe. The company is also moving forward with the live-action adaptation, with production on Season 3 already underway. In addition, a LEGO-themed One Piece special is scheduled to arrive later this year, further expanding the franchise's presence on the platform.

More than two decades after the original anime first debuted, One Piece remains one of the most popular and influential franchises in the world. With a fresh adaptation, a modern visual style, and a release date now locked in, Netflix is hoping a new generation of fans will be ready to join Luffy's quest to become King of the Pirates.
