'Batman: Knightfall' trailer unveiled as DC brings iconic comic saga to life in animated trilogy
The trilogy follows Batman after the powerful villain Bane orchestrates a mass breakout from Arkham Asylum

Warner Bros. Animation and DC have released the first official trailer for Batman: Knightfall, a new three-part animated movie event adapting one of the most celebrated storylines in Batman history. The trailer debuted following the premiere of Batman: Knightfall Part 1: Knightfall at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival on June 23, 2026.
Based on the landmark 1990s comic event, the trilogy follows Batman as he faces his greatest physical and psychological challenge after the powerful villain Bane orchestrates a mass breakout from Arkham Asylum, unleashing Gotham’s most dangerous criminals and pushing the Caped Crusader to his limits.
The animated films are inspired by the acclaimed comic arc created by Doug Moench, Chuck Dixon, Alan Grant, Dennis O’Neil, Peter David, Jo Duffy, Jim Aparo, Graham Nolan, Norm Breyfogle and Jim Balent. Part One is directed by Jeff Wamester and written by Jeremy Adams, with Rick Morales serving as supervising producer alongside producers Jim Krieg and Kimberly S. Moreau. Sam Register and Michael Uslan are executive producers.
The voice cast includes Anson Mount as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Michael Mando as Bane and Pablo Schreiber as Jean-Paul Valley, also known as Azrael. Their characters are central to the story, which chronicles the famous “breaking of the Bat” storyline that transformed Batman lore.
Batman: Knightfall Part 1: Knightfall premiered at Annecy on June 23, 2026, with a wider release scheduled for later in the year. The project marks one of DC’s most ambitious animated adaptations, expanding the classic comic storyline across three films.
