Nicola Coughlan’s new show 'I Am Helen' reveals a darker side of online culture

Nicola Coughlan’s upcoming Channel 4 drama I Am Helen is set to explore the impact of the manosphere on modern relationships, offering a female perspective on a topic that has become increasingly prominent in public debate.

The Bridgerton star will lead the latest instalment of Channel 4’s acclaimed I Am anthology series, created by filmmaker Dominic Savage. According to details revealed by Deadline, the drama will follow Helen, played by Coughlan, as she navigates a relationship affected by her partner’s growing involvement in the manosphere.

Peaky Blinders actor Joe Cole stars opposite Coughlan as Helen’s love interest. The story examines how online communities associated with the manosphere can influence attitudes, behaviour and personal relationships, with a particular focus on the effects experienced by women.

The project arrives amid renewed discussion surrounding the manosphere and its presence on social media platforms. The subject has remained in the spotlight following the success of Netflix drama Adolescence and the recent release of a documentary by Louis Theroux examining the online movement.

Channel 4 has not officially commented on the plot details or announced a premiere date for I Am Helen. However, the drama is understood to have completed filming last year.
