Kimberly Van Der Beek paid tribute to her late husband, James Van Der Beek, on Father's Day, marking the family's first celebration since the actor's death.

In an emotional Instagram post shared on June 21, Kimberly reflected on the love and devotion the Dawson’s Creek star showed to their six children, writing that she was “missing him fiercely” while celebrating the legacy he left behind. According to People, she shared a series of family photos and videos alongside a heartfelt message remembering James as a devoted father and partner.

“Happy Father's Day to the man who loved being a dad more than anything,” Kimberly wrote. “The kids and I feel your presence in everything. We miss you every day, but especially today.”

The couple married in 2010 and welcomed six children together: Olivia, Joshua, Annabel, Emilia, Gwendolyn and Jeremiah. Throughout his illness, Kimberly frequently praised her husband's resilience and the joy he found in fatherhood.

In her Father's Day message, Kimberly also thanked friends, family and fans for their continued support, noting that their kindness had helped her and the children navigate the difficult months since James' passing. She added that the family plans to continue honouring the traditions he cherished.

Tributes poured in from friends and fans in the comments section, with many sharing memories of the actor and expressing support for Kimberly and their children.

Though Father's Day brought renewed grief, Kimberly's message focused on gratitude and love, celebrating the lasting impact James Van Der Beek had on his family and remembering the role he treasured most — being a dad.
