Tom Holland and Zendaya have responded to the viral “Zendaya Hat Theory,” a social media meme that has gained widespread attention online.

The couple addressed the internet joke during a recent interview with Dutch publication LINDA, offering a lighthearted reaction to one of the web’s most unusual celebrity theories.

The “Zendaya Hat Theory” originated from a photograph of Zendaya wearing an oversized black Emporio Armani hat at the 2014 Teen Vogue Young Hollywood Party. More than a decade later, the image resurfaced on social media, where users began creating humorous conspiracy-style videos around the hat. The trend gained traction in 2025 after TikTok creators paired the image with dramatic music and fictional narratives.

During their interview, Holland was asked about the theory and jokingly described it as “peak brain rot,” referencing the internet’s tendency to create increasingly absurd viral trends. Zendaya also joined in on the joke, quipping that she had already “let him out” of the hat, prompting laughter from both stars.

The exchange marks one of the first times the engaged couple has publicly acknowledged the meme. Their comments have since generated additional reactions online, with fans praising their willingness to embrace the humour surrounding the viral trend.

The “Zendaya Hat Theory” continues to circulate across social media, with many fans now wondering whether the actress will revisit the iconic oversized hat in a future public appearance.
