'Solo Leveling' expands anime, print and live-action plans as manga ends
The localised Japanese manga edition will end its seven-year run in June 2026 as other multimedia projects continue

The Solo Leveling franchise is continuing its global expansion across anime, publishing and live-action productions despite the conclusion of its Japanese manga adaptation later this month.
According to reports from CBR and Screen Rant, the localised Japanese manga edition will end its seven-year run in June 2026.
The adaptation expanded the original 15-volume manhwa into 25 manga volumes tailored for Japanese digital and print audiences. While this chapter of the franchise is closing, several major projects remain in development.
Publisher D&C Media has indicated that Season 3 of the anime adaptation, produced by A-1 Pictures, is targeting a release window between 2027 and 2028.
The spin-off manhwa Solo Leveling: Ragnarok, which entered an indefinite hiatus in January 2026 following illustrator Jin’s mandatory military service, is expected to return between July and October 2027.
Meanwhile, Yen Press has opened pre-orders for the English print edition of Solo Leveling: Ragnarok. The first volume is scheduled for release on July 21, 2026, with the second set to follow on October 20, 2026.
The series centres on Suho, the son of Sung Jinwoo and Cha Haein, as he develops extraordinary powers to confront new cosmic threats.
South Korean news outlet Hankyung also reported progress on the franchise’s live-action adaptation for Netflix, starring actor Byeon Woo-seok. Preliminary production began earlier this year, with principal photography commencing in May.
"Even looking at the case of the mega IP 'Solo Leveling,' although actor Byeon Woo-seok's casting was announced last July, test filming did not begin until March of this year, and full-scale filming only recently commenced. The release date is reportedly set for next year," reported Hankyung.
The live-action series is currently expected to debut in 2027 as part of the franchise’s broader long-term expansion strategy.
