Sana scotches rumours of change at the top
Prime Minister's Adviser on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah on Saturday categorically dismissed reports suggesting a change of prime minister after the federal budget.
He denounced the speculation as completely baseless and an attempt to create instability in the country.
Speaking to journalists at Parliament House, the senior PML-N leader said "certain elements" were deliberately spreading unfounded rumours regarding Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's future in office, despite there being no such development under consideration.
Responding to a question about reports of a possible change in the premiership after the budget, he said some people were trying to fuel uncertainty through false narratives. He said the premier was currently leading the country in an effective manner and had strengthened Pakistan's standing on the international stage.
"The prime minister is taking the country forward in the best possible way. At a time when Pakistan has earned respect and prestige across the world, only anti-state elements engage in such discussions," he said.
Rana Sanaullah also reiterated the government's commitment to political dialogue, saying the ruling coalition had consistently sought engagement with the opposition because solutions emerge through negotiations.
"We have always tried to hold talks with the opposition because dialogue creates pathways forward," he said.
Drawing a comparison with his party's time in opposition, he added that instead of being offered talks, PML-N leaders had faced legal cases and political pressure.
