Salman Khan, Farhan Akhtar discuss first-ever collaboration on grand period drama

Salman Khan could be heading into one of the most ambitious phases of his career, with reports suggesting the actor is in talks to star in a large-scale historical action drama backed by filmmaker Farhan Akhtar.

According to Indian media reports, Khan and Akhtar have been holding discussions over a potential collaboration that would mark their first project together.

A source close to the development told the media outlet that the actor has responded positively to the concept and remains actively engaged in discussions.

"Salman Khan and Farhan Akhtar have been meeting regularly over the last month and discussing a potential collaboration. Salman has loved what he has heard so far and has shown keen interest in the project," the source said.

While the discussions are reportedly still in the early stages, both sides are said to be enthusiastic about bringing the project to life.

"The talks are still at an early stage and have not yet reached the paperwork phase, but both sides are excited about the possibility of coming together for the first time," the source added.

"It is a massive period action drama mounted on a grand scale. The idea is to tell the story across two films," the insider revealed.

The venture is reportedly being developed under Excel Entertainment, with Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani attached as producers. If negotiations progress as expected, production could begin in the summer of 2027.

The reported collaboration comes at a time when Khan's schedule is already packed with major projects. The actor is currently working on an untitled film directed by Vamshi Paidipally, which stars Nayanthara in a leading role.

He is also expected to begin work on filmmaker duo Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK's action-comedy entertainer later this year. The project reportedly follows a retiring superhero and is expected to combine action and humour in a fresh take on the genre.

Although neither Khan nor Akhtar has publicly confirmed the collaboration, the prospect of the two industry heavyweights joining forces has already generated considerable excitement among fans.
