Eugene Levy is preparing for another round of unexpected adventures after Apple TV officially renewed The Reluctant Traveler With Eugene Levy for a fourth season.

The Emmy nominated travel series, which first debuted in 2023, has become one of Apple TV’s most successful unscripted programmes. Levy serves as both host and executive producer, bringing his trademark humour and reluctance toward unfamiliar experiences to destinations around the world.

According to Apple TV, the upcoming season will consist of eight episodes and will once again push the actor outside his comfort zone. The official synopsis states that Levy plans to raise the stakes by agreeing to experiences he previously spent much of his life avoiding.

The new season promises more unexpected adventures, unfamiliar cultures and challenges that the actor once instinctively rejected.

Levy addressed the renewal with his signature dry wit, admitting that his perspective on travel has evolved after three seasons.

“After three seasons on the show I have just about accepted, albeit begrudgingly, that saying yes to new experiences is not necessarily a bad thing for me,” Levy said in a statement.

He added that he intends to continue that approach, though with some hesitation.

“So, I’ve committed to saying yes a little more often this season. It’s a strategy I’m approaching with considerable caution.”

The series has resonated with audiences because of Levy’s honest reactions and willingness to acknowledge his fears and discomfort. Unlike traditional travel programmes, The Reluctant Traveler With Eugene Levy focuses on personal growth and humour as much as it does on the destinations themselves.

Throughout previous seasons, the Schitt’s Creek star visited locations across Europe, Asia and North America, taking part in activities that ranged from wilderness adventures to cultural traditions he never expected to experience.

Production on Season 4 will once again come from Twofour for Apple TV. Executive producers include Levy alongside David Brindley, Nic Patten, Lily Fitzpatrick, Iain Peckham and Adam Barry.

Apple TV has not announced a premiere date for the new season.
