Forensic delays slow Chakwal shooting probe
Police investigators associated with the case of nine-year-old Pakistani-origin Australian girl Hania Ahmed, who was killed in a tragic Crime Control Department (CCD) firing incident in Chakwal, have yet to receive the post-mortem report even after six days, resulting in a significant delay in the investigation process.
According to sources, the forensic report of more than 100 bullet casings recovered from the scene has also not yet been submitted to the investigating team.
The delay in both forensic and post-mortem reports has slowed down the preparation of the challan against the accused CCD constable Shuja and is hampering the legal proceedings.
Meanwhile, the girl's father, Adeel Ahmed, and her brother, who were injured in the incident, remain under treatment at the Benazir Bhutto Hospital in Rawalpindi for the fifth consecutive day.
Hospital sources said their condition is stable and showing signs of improvement, though they remain under medical supervision.
Officials of the Australian High Commission, Islamabad are reportedly in continuous contact with the injured family members and are closely monitoring developments in the case.
The bereaved family's residence continues to receive a steady stream of mourners, with people arriving from distant parts of the country to express grief and solidarity.
