Brooklyn Beckham releases World Cup ad seemingly mocking family rift, David and Victoria react
The couple have reportedly been estranged from their eldest son for more than a year

Brooklyn Beckham has faced criticism after appearing in a commercial for a food delivery service that references his ongoing estrangement from his family, with sources claiming David and Victoria Beckham were left shocked by the portrayal.
In the advert, Brooklyn, 27, appears to make a tongue-in-cheek reference to his absence from the FIFA World Cup 2026, saying, “You’re probably wondering why I’m watching the FIFA World Cup 2026 from home…” He later concludes, “It’s a long story.”
The campaign, created for DoorDash, has been interpreted by some close to the Beckham family as referencing the ongoing rift between Brooklyn and his parents, David and Victoria Beckham.
The couple have reportedly been estranged from their eldest son for more than a year.
A source quoted by The Sun said, “To do an ad based on estrangement from family as if it’s a joke when his family is devastated and sister and grandparents are inconsolable…”
The source added, “It just seems a tad hypocritical from someone claiming to want peace and privacy and the trying to cash in on it all.”
They continued, “He says he wants nothing to do with his family, but is now trading off them by using one of his footballing father’s legacies – the World Cup – as an advertising selling point.”
Brooklyn has previously made public comments about tensions within the family and has reportedly instructed that contact be made through legal representatives.
The advert also shows props including World Cup tickets and personal items, which some viewers have linked to the family dispute, further intensifying online discussion around the campaign.
