Sea water floods Keti Bandar villages
Seawater intrusion has caused widespread devastation in Keti Bandar with hundreds of families displaced after a breach in a protective embankment.
The situation turned critical in the coastal tehsil of Keti Bandar after seawater entered residential areas. Four days ago, a breach appeared in the protective bund of Union Council Keti Bandar, allowing saline water to flood several villages.
Officials and locals said villages including Ali Bakhsh Jat, Hashim Jat, and Usman Dablo have come under water. Homes have been inundated, daily life has been severely disrupted, and affected families are moving to safer areas.
Residents said the water level continues to rise, putting more settlements at risk. Locals alleged they had repeatedly informed the relevant authorities about the breaches in the embankment and the increasing sea pressure, but no timely action was taken.
"Had protective measures been taken on time, this situation could have been avoided," they said.
