Anne Schedeen, 'ALF' actress, dies aged 77
Anne Schedeen, the actress best known for playing Kate Tanner in the 1980s sitcom ALF, has died at the age of 77, according to a statement shared by a representative on Facebook.
The announcement confirmed that Schedeen “passed peacefully”. A cause of death was not disclosed.
In a message shared with fans, the family described her creative life and personal passions, writing that she leaves behind “an extraordinary legacy of creative energy, whip smart humor, delight in her family, adoration for little dogs, burning hatred for (U.S. President Donald) Trump, passion for second-hand thrifting, and love for a good story. We are bereft without her. We loved her so so much, as did all who met her.”
The statement added, “She was a force. And it is unimaginable to think about life without her in it. But as she said, ‘I'm always with you.’ And she's right. The memories, artwork, belly laughter, handmade jewelry, oil paintings, sculptures, costumes, and all-around joie de vivre live on.”
Fans were also asked to “raise a margarita in her honor”.
Schedeen began her acting career in 1974, later appearing in a range of television series including Three’s Company, Paper Dolls and Cheers.
Her most recognised role came in ALF, where she starred as Kate Tanner across four seasons from 1986 to 1990. The series followed a suburban family who take in an alien life form after it crash-lands in their garage.
Schedeen is survived by her husband, Christopher Barrett, and their daughter, Taylor Barrett.
