Centre clears key K-P transport, wheat issues

The federal government has accepted two major demands of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government, paving the way for the operationalization of the Peshawar Bus Terminal and resolving a longstanding wheat supply issue.

According to official sources, the National Highway Authority (NHA) has issued the long-awaited No Objection Certificate (NOC) required to connect the newly constructed Peshawar Bus Terminal with the Grand Trunk (GT) Road. The development follows a recent meeting between Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi and Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal, during which the chief minister raised the matter along with concerns regarding wheat supplies from the PASSCO.

Provincial Finance Adviser Muzammil Aslam said the bus terminal had already been completed, but its functionality was delayed due to the absence of the NHA's approval for a link road to GT Road. Following the chief minister's intervention, the NHA issued the required NOC, enabling authorities to proceed with connecting the terminal to the national highway network.

He added that Chief Minister Afridi is expected to inaugurate the project in the near future.
