Oil production from dead animals fat, bones unearthed

Large quantities of carcasses of dead animals recovered, man involved in illegal activity arrested

The Sukhan police conducted a raid on a warehouse and arrested a suspect allegedly involved in producing hazardous oil by melting the fat and bones of dead animals.

Police registered a case on behalf of the state and seized the harmful oil and other materials from the warehouse.

According to officials, a video of the walled compound had gone viral on social media a few days ago, showing carcasses of dead animals and large quantities of animal bones inside the premises.

The case was registered at Sukhan police station under under Sections 269, 270, and 337-J of the Pakistan Penal Code. Complainant ASI Ghulam Qadir stated that he was on routine anti-crime patrol with other police personnel when an informant reported that a man was producing oil from melted animal fat at a vacant plot near a coal warehouse.

Acting on the tip-off, police raided the location at around 1:30am on June 12 and found a man allegedly engaged in melting animal fat to produce oil. The suspect, identified as Waqar, was arrested on the spot.

During a search of the warehouse, police recovered a plastic container filled with oil allegedly produced from the fat of dead animals. According to the FIR, the oil was considered hazardous and potentially harmful to human health. The recovered material was seized as evidence, and the suspect was taken into custody.

Police also sealed the plot and later handed the case over to the investigation unit for further inquiry.

The matter gained public attention after a viral social media video showed dead animal carcasses inside the compound, along with a large cauldron allegedly used to process animal fat and bones into oil. Piles of leftover bones were also visible in the footage.

Officials from the Sindh Food Authority subsequently inspected the site.
