NAWABSHAH:

A university student and his brother were killed, while three other family members sustained injuries in a firing incident near a bus stop in Nawabshah on Friday, police said.

Unidentified armed men opened fire on a car near Landhi bus stop, leaving two brothers dead on the spot and injuring three others. Police and rescue teams reached the scene and shifted the casualties to Peoples Medical College Hospital. Police identified one of the deceased as Arslan Jamali, a second-year BBA student at Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University, while the other victim was his brother Sarmad Jamali.

The injured were identified as Faisal Jamali, Saud Jamali, and Salman Jamali. Hospital sources said their condition was stated to be out of danger. Police said all victims belonged to the same family and were residents of Khair Shah Goth.

Preliminary investigations suggest the incident was linked to an old enmity and a land dispute. Police added that a verbal altercation had also taken place between the victims and a relative at the university a day earlier.

Officials said the victims were returning home after leaving the university when armed suspects, allegedly lying in wait, opened fire on their vehicle.
