David Beckham has said his family remains his top priority while declining to comment on private matters during a wide-ranging interview with Variety following his Hollywood Walk of Fame honour.

The former England captain, 51, was asked about reported tensions within his family but firmly refused to go into detail, stating: “I’m sorry to stop you there, but that’s a private matter. That’s the one thing that I don’t want to talk about,” he told Variety.

The comment comes as Beckham continues to attract global attention following his star ceremony in Los Angeles, marking another milestone in a career that has taken him from East London to international sporting and cultural icon status.

Despite speculation surrounding his personal life, Beckham emphasised that family remains central to everything he does. Speaking more broadly during the Variety interview, he highlighted the importance of his wife Victoria Beckham and their children, adding that they have always made time for one another despite busy schedules and public scrutiny.

He also reflected on his enduring passion for football and ownership of Inter Miami CF, while continuing to express enthusiasm for major global events like the upcoming World Cup.

Away from sport, Beckham revealed he still hopes for a Spice Girls reunion, joking that he is “always hoping for the girls to get back together,” and praised the group’s lasting global impact.

The former football star concluded in the Variety interview by saying he remains ambitious and driven, adding that there are always “new mountains to climb” despite decades of success.
