Some users interpreted the comment as lighthearted and general, while others suggested it reflected frustration with celebrity “bandwagon” fans. The post was later deleted, but screenshots continued circulating widely online.
The conversation was further amplified after NBA broadcaster Monica McNutt made separate comments questioning Swift’s Knicks fandom during Game 4 coverage, later apologising for her remarks.
Swift’s courtside appearances throughout the playoffs have kept her in the spotlight, intensifying scrutiny around celebrity presence at major sporting events. Neither Gomez nor Swift has publicly addressed the speculation surrounding the deleted post.
