Gang live-streaming adult content busted
Rawat police have uncovered a gang allegedly involved in live-streaming and uploading obscene videos on pornographic websites, arresting 11 local and foreign suspects and recovering weapons and electronic equipment.
According to police, the gang was headed by a Chinese national who allegedly produced and uploaded explicit videos featuring men and women for online sale. A Nigerian woman was also among those arrested.
Rawalpindi police have sought assistance from the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) in the investigation.
Police officials said a team was present in a private housing society when they received information that proclaimed offender Raza Atiq was hiding in a house. During a raid, the suspect allegedly escaped through a secret route after learning of the police arrival.
However, police claimed they found seven women and three men inside a dressing room engaged in activities being live-streamed through cameras. Another man standing on the streaming stage attempted to flee but was apprehended. He identified himself as Li Guoliang, a Chinese national.
During a search, police recovered a 9mm pistol and ammunition from his possession. He allegedly failed to produce a valid license. Other arrested individuals identified themselves as Li Shaoheng of China, Badrin Ahmed of Kotli and Saad Ahmed of Sector B-17.
Seven women, including a foreign national, were also taken into custody. Laptops, mobile phones and other devices recovered from the scene allegedly contained obscene videos.
Police said preliminary inquiries revealed that large sums of money were generated through live-streaming and selling explicit videos under the direction of the gang leader. Women told investigators they were lured with promises of jobs and later forced into live-streaming and video production.
A case has been registered against the suspects. According to police spokesman Inspector Sajjadul Hassan, two foreign nationals, two Pakistani men and seven women, including a foreign woman, were arrested.
He said the suspects were uploading explicit videos to various websites and that further investigations could reveal major developments.
