The Love Hypothesis unveils first photos as Olive and Adam’s beloved romance comes to life on screen

The Love Hypothesis adaptation has unveiled its first official images, offering fans a glimpse at the highly anticipated romance between Olive Smith and Adam Carlsen ahead of the film’s release on Prime Video later this year.

Based on Ali Hazelwood’s bestselling novel, The Love Hypothesis follows PhD student Olive Smith, played by Lili Reinhart, and biology professor Dr. Adam Carlsen, portrayed by Tom Bateman. The story centres on a fake relationship that begins after an unexpected kiss and gradually develops into something more meaningful.

The newly released photos showcase several key moments from the adaptation, including Olive and Adam’s iconic first kiss, a scene that became instantly recognisable to readers through the novel’s cover artwork.

Speaking to Cosmopolitan, Bateman praised his on-screen partnership with Reinhart, saying their connection helped create an authentic portrayal of the beloved characters. Reinhart echoed the sentiment, describing Bateman as the ideal choice for the role and expressing excitement about bringing Olive to life for fans of the novel.

Author Ali Hazelwood also shared her approval of the adaptation, highlighting the chemistry between the lead actors and their ability to capture both the humour and emotional depth of the source material. She additionally revealed that one of her favourite scenes in the film is an entirely new sequence created specifically for the adaptation.

The cast also includes Rachel Marsh as Anh, Jaboukie Young-White as Malcolm and Nicholas Duvernay as Jeremy, bringing several fan-favourite characters from the novel to the screen.

According to Cosmopolitan, the adaptation aims to preserve the romance, friendship and humour that helped make The Love Hypothesis a global bestseller. The film is set to premiere on Prime Video later this year.
