Double murder: Mother, daughter strangled and dumped in graveyard
Bodies of the two women were found by the police.
PESHAWAR:
Unknown persons strangled two women and dumped their dead bodies in a local graveyard here on Monday, the police said.
The incident took place in the limits of the Yakatut Police Station. A police official from the area said that a local informed them about the presence of the dead bodies in the Hazarkhwani graveyard, in the outskirts of the city.
Earlier, the police were clueless about the murdered women’s identities, however, later in the day an official at the Yakatut Police Station received a call identifying the two as Bakht Bibi, 55, and her 18-year-old daughter, Shazia. The call was made from the victim’s cell phone.
The complainant, Gul Rehman, a resident of Sardar Ahmed Jan Colony Charsadda Road informed the police that one of his daughters was married and lived in the Shabqadar area of Charsadda and his wife had been paying her a visit. Rehman said he was trying to reach the two women during the day, but without any success. Police identified the complainant as a driver at the K-P Civil Secretariat, who did not have an enmity with anyone.
The official said that the dead bodies were shifted to the mortuary for an autopsy. The bodies did not bear any signs of torture and it seemed as if the women were killed somewhere else, after which their bodies were dumped in the graveyard.
Police said that the family has not nominated any suspects. A case has been registered and investigations are underway.
