Sydney Sweeney has received support from a former member of the James Bond family, with actress Jane Seymour saying the Euphoria star would make an excellent Bond girl in the upcoming era of the long running franchise.

Seymour, who played Solitaire opposite Roger Moore in 1973’s Live and Let Die, shared her thoughts while attending Nancy Davis’ 33rd Annual Race to Erase MS Gala in Los Angeles. When asked about the possibility of Sweeney joining the Bond universe, Seymour responded positively.

"Oh, I am sure she would. I mean, she is gorgeous, talented. Why not?" Seymour said.

The veteran actress also reflected on what audiences should expect from James Bond films. According to Seymour, the series has always been designed as entertainment rather than a statement on contemporary issues.

"It is a movie. It is not a mission, you know. It’s supposed to be fun. It’s supposed to be mindless," she explained.

She added that Bond adventures are intended to provide audiences with escapism. "It’s not supposed to be politically correct or life changing. It is supposed to take you on a joyride for two hours. So, I hope it’s enjoyable."

Seymour also revealed that she would gladly return to the franchise herself. Asked whether she would consider portraying a villain or another major character, she said she would welcome the opportunity. The actress even joked that she could follow in Dame Judi Dench’s footsteps and take on the role of M.

The comments arrive as anticipation continues to build around the next James Bond film. Amazon MGM Studios recently confirmed that the search for the next actor to portray 007 is underway, although the studio has not revealed any casting decisions.

Acclaimed filmmaker Denis Villeneuve has been selected to direct the next instalment, adding further excitement among fans. With a new creative era beginning for Bond, speculation has continued about both the leading actor and the supporting cast.

Sweeney’s name has appeared in fan discussions for some time. Director Paul Feig previously voiced support for the actress, even suggesting that she could potentially lead her own spy adventure rather than simply serve as a Bond companion.

Away from Bond speculation, Seymour’s appearance at the Race to Erase MS Gala highlighted the charity’s ongoing work. Founded by Nancy Davis in 1993, the organisation has raised more than $58m for multiple sclerosis research and has supported numerous treatment developments over the years.

For now, no official casting announcements have been made, but Jane Seymour’s endorsement has added Sydney Sweeney’s name to the growing conversation surrounding the future of James Bond.
