Protest at JPMC over acid attack on female medic

KARACHI:

A peaceful protest was staged at the JPMC under the banner of the Young Doctors Association (YDA) against the recent gruesome acid attack on female doctor Dr Mahnoor Nasir at Quetta's Civil Hospital.

Doctors participating in the protest wore black armbands and raised slogans, condemning the incident. They said that the medical community nationwide stands in solidarity with Dr Mahnoor, adding that rising incidents of violence against medics are deeply alarming.

YDA leaders, including Dr Umar Sultan, demanded that Dr Mahnoor be provided with advanced medical treatment facilities abroad. They also called for effective security arrangements in hospitals and the implementation of legislation aimed at ensuring the protection of doctors and healthcare workers.
