Rosie O’Donnell details the moment she decided to get a facelift
Rosie O’Donnell has opened up about the personal reasons behind her recent facelift, revealing that comments about her appearance following significant weight loss played a role in her decision to undergo cosmetic surgery.
Speaking at the 2026 Tony Awards, the comedian and former The View co-host said people frequently questioned whether she was upset due to changes in her facial appearance. O’Donnell explained that after losing weight with the help of the medication Mounjaro, she developed what she described as deep marionette lines around the lower part of her face.
According to O’Donnell, people in Ireland, where she currently resides, often asked if something was wrong because of the appearance of the lines. She said she regularly found herself explaining that she was not unhappy and that the changes were simply the result of her facial structure following weight loss.

The actress previously revealed that she underwent a facelift earlier this year, a decision she said conflicted with her long-held views about cosmetic procedures. O’Donnell acknowledged that she had once considered facelifts to be incompatible with her feminist beliefs but ultimately reconsidered after noticing the dramatic changes in her appearance.
In discussing the procedure, O’Donnell said she sought out a surgeon whose work she trusted and aimed for natural-looking results. She emphasized that her goal was not to look like a different person but rather a refreshed version of herself.
The comedian has since expressed satisfaction with the outcome and indicated that she does not currently plan to undergo additional cosmetic procedures. O’Donnell is also preparing to return to the United States later this year for her upcoming one-woman Broadway show, Common Knowledge.
