Netflix has released the first teaser for Scooby-Doo: Origins, giving fans their first glimpse of the franchise's very first live-action Scooby-Doo portrayed by a real dog.

The short teaser follows the iconic Great Dane wandering through the woods before crossing paths with Shaggy Rogers, played by Tanner Hagen. The clip ends with the floppy-eared pup, sporting Scooby's signature teal collar, being held by his future best friend.

Set to premiere in 2027, Scooby-Doo: Origins will explore how Mystery Inc. first came together. The story follows Shaggy and Daphne Blake, played by Mckenna Grace, during their final summer at camp when they become entangled in a chilling mystery involving a lost Great Dane puppy that may have witnessed a supernatural murder.

Joining them are Abby Ryder Fortson as Velma Dinkley and Maxwell Jenkins as Fred Jones. Together, the group investigates a case that threatens to uncover long-buried secrets while laying the foundation for the famous mystery-solving team.

The series marks a major milestone for the franchise, which has produced multiple live-action films, numerous animated series, and dozens of animated movies over the past five decades. However, this will be the first time Scooby-Doo himself is portrayed as a real dog rather than through animation or CGI-heavy adaptation.

Production on the series began in Atlanta in April, with Paul Walter Hauser also joining the cast in an undisclosed role. The premiere episode will be directed by Toby Haynes.
