Quetta acid attack victim shifted to Karachi
A lady doctor, Dr Mahnoor, who was subjected to acid attack at the Civil Hospital Quetta, is currently under treatment at a private hospital in Karachi.
According to hospital sources, Dr Mahnoor underwent a comprehensive medical examination at Aga Khan University Hospital on Sunday. She was flown to Karachi via air ambulance after the acid attack that took place on June 5.
While the AKU hospital has not issued an official medical bulletin regarding her condition, sources indicate that around 13 per cent of her body has suffered acid burns.
The injuries include burns on her face, abdomen, thighs, and right hand. Medical teams comprising plastic surgeons and eye specialists have completed initial evaluations. Both eyes were affected in the attack; however, doctors say her eyesight remains intact.
Dr Mahnoor has been moved to the Special Care Unit, where she remains under close observation. A follow-up medical assessment is scheduled after 24 hours. Hospital sources describe her overall condition as "satisfactory."
Meanwhile, on the directives of Faryal Talpur, Sindh government spokesperson and Sindh Assembly member Saadia Javed visited the hospital to inquire about Dr Mahnoor's health. Saadia conveyed best wishes for her swift recovery and expressed solidarity and support on behalf of Faryal Talpur.
Separately, a young man who attempted to rescue Dr Mahnoor during the attack was also injured and is receiving treatment in Quetta.
The Balochistan chief minister contacted him to inquire about his condition and appreciated his bravery. Police officials further stated that the suspect allegedly involved in the attack was killed last night in an encounter conducted by police.
Authorities have not yet released further details regarding the motive behind the attack, and investigations are ongoing.
