Dua Lipa and Callum Turner’s lavish wedding celebrations in Palermo have become one of the most talked-about celebrity events of the summer, drawing both admiration and criticism from locals in the historic Sicilian city.

The newlyweds travelled to Sicily after reportedly completing a legal wedding ceremony in London, hosting a multi day celebration in Palermo that attracted a host of famous guests including Charli XCX, Troye Sivan, Mark Ronson and Donatella Versace. Reports suggested the festivities cost around £1.5m and included events at several exclusive locations across the city.

According to reports, Dua Lipa attempted to address some of those concerns by providing compensation for residents affected by parking restrictions during the wedding festivities. Metro reported that around £5,000 was distributed to help offset inconvenience caused by temporary parking limitations around event locations.
<div class=

Additional reports suggested that accommodation arrangements were also carefully managed, with properties reportedly booked to minimise complaints and disruptions from nearby visitors and residents during the celebrations.

Security around the wedding was extensive. Residents and fans hoping to catch a glimpse of the singer and her guests were reportedly moved away from certain areas as police maintained security measures. Screens and barriers were also erected in some locations to preserve privacy for attendees.

Not everyone viewed the wedding negatively. Palermo Mayor Roberto Lagalla publicly welcomed the event, arguing that the global publicity generated by a star of Dua Lipa’s stature could bring long term benefits to the city. He acknowledged that large scale events inevitably create temporary inconvenience but maintained that the international exposure would help strengthen Palermo’s profile as a destination for tourism and major events.

The celebrations followed the couple’s engagement, which was confirmed in 2025. Palermo was reportedly chosen after the pair spent time in the city previously and developed an affection for its culture, architecture and atmosphere.

Despite the controversy, the wedding has dominated entertainment headlines worldwide, with social media filled with images, videos and discussion surrounding the festivities. For supporters, the event showcased Palermo on a global stage. For critics, it reignited questions about the impact of high profile celebrity events on local communities.
