Rapper Jay-Z is facing what legal experts describe as a “steep hill to climb” in his ongoing legal battle against high-profile attorney Tony Buzbee, according to reporting by RadarOnline.

The dispute stems from a now-withdrawn sexual assault lawsuit filed by a client represented by Buzbee, which accused Jay-Z of rape. The rapper, 56, has strongly denied the allegations and has since filed a lawsuit against Buzbee, accusing him of reputational damage and legal misconduct under New York’s Section 487, a statute that allows claims against attorneys for alleged fraud, deceit, or collusion.

Legal experts told RadarOnline that Jay-Z’s case will be difficult to prove, particularly because the law requires clear evidence of intentional deception. Attorney Jordan Matthews noted that the case carries a “high burden of proof,” adding that Jay-Z’s legal team would need to demonstrate that Buzbee deliberately misled the court.

Another legal expert, attorney Yosi Yahoudai, explained that the statute specifically targets intentional wrongdoing rather than aggressive legal advocacy, making the threshold for success particularly high.

The original lawsuit against Jay-Z was voluntarily dismissed by the accuser, who later admitted in an interview that “not all the facts are clear” and that she may have made mistakes in identifying individuals involved.

Despite the dismissal, Jay-Z has continued his legal action, alleging that the case was built on misleading claims and that Buzbee engaged in deceptive practices. Court filings also reference alleged communications suggesting the attorney may have influenced the direction of the accusations.

Buzbee has denied wrongdoing. As the case continues, legal analysts suggest the outcome will depend heavily on whether Jay-Z can produce concrete evidence of intentional misconduct.
