Mika Abdalla and Jake Short have ended their engagement after five years together, according to a statement released by Abdalla's representative.

The actors, who met while working on the 2021 Hulu film Sex Appeal, became engaged in May 2025 after several years of dating. News of their separation was confirmed on June 1, with representatives stating that the pair remain supportive of one another and have asked for privacy as they move forward separately.

“Due to recent interest in Mika’s personal life it would feel remiss to not address that her and Jake are no longer together,” the statement said, adding that the former couple remain on friendly terms.

The breakup has attracted additional attention online due to a resurfaced podcast clip featuring Short. The clip, originally recorded during an appearance on The Sit and Chat podcast, has recently gone viral across social media platforms.

In the interview, Short was asked to describe his then-fiancée in two words. His initial response prompted surprise from those present and has since become the subject of discussion among fans online. Although the actor later made additional comments about the relationship, many social media users have revisited the exchange following news of the split.

The renewed focus comes at a notable time in Abdalla’s career. The actress recently gained wider recognition through Prime Video’s Off Campus, which has already secured a second-season renewal following its debut.
