Jensen Ackles wants 'Vought Rising' to finally explain one major Soldier Boy mystery

Jensen Ackles has revealed the one unanswered question about Soldier Boy that he hopes Prime Video’s upcoming The Boys prequel Vought Rising will finally address.

Ackles said he wants the series to explore the emotional significance of Soldier Boy’s relationship with Clara, the woman later known as Stormfront. According to the actor, the mystery is not simply what happened between them, but why that connection has continued to affect Soldier Boy for decades.

“I think just understanding the emotional gravity of it all,” Ackles said, adding that he wants to know why the relationship has remained such a powerful force in Soldier Boy’s life for more than 80 years.

The relationship between Soldier Boy and Clara has become a frequent topic of discussion among fans because The Boys has only offered fragmented details about their history. Several references throughout the series suggested Clara played a major role in shaping Soldier Boy’s motivations, but the full story was never explained.

That mystery is expected to be explored in Vought Rising, which is set in the 1950s and follows the origins of Vought International. Ackles will reprise his role as Soldier Boy, while Aya Cash returns as Stormfront under her original identity, Clara Vought. The prequel has been described as a noir-style murder mystery that examines the early days of the company and the first generation of superheroes.

Ackles has also teased that the series will feel different from The Boys despite remaining firmly rooted in the same universe. He previously said viewers will finally see Soldier Boy “in his element”, exploring the experiences and struggles that shaped him into the character fans met in the main series.

Prime Video has not announced an exact release date, but Vought Rising is currently expected to premiere in 2027. The series is set to star Ackles and Cash alongside Elizabeth Posey, Will Hochman and Mason Dye.
