RAWALPINDI:

Eidul Azha was celebrated with religious fervour across Rawalpindi and Islamabad, with residents observing the Sunnah of Prophet Ibrahim (AS), distributing sacrificial meat and hosting relatives and guests with an array of traditional delicacies throughout the three-day festival.

As evening fell, families flocked to parks and recreational venues to add to the festive spirit. Children and adults alike enjoyed a variety of leisure activities, while the customary exchange of Eidi remained a highlight for youngsters, many of whom eagerly collected crisp banknotes from relatives.

After participating in sacrificial rituals and helping distribute meat among the needy, children spent their Eidi at popular family destinations, including Ayub National Park, Jinnah Park, Joyland and other recreational facilities operated by the Army Heritage Foundation. Visitors thronged amusement rides, with roller coasters, Discovery swings and jumping castles among the most sought-after attractions.

"We received sacrificial animals, helped take care of them and came here with our parents to enjoy the holiday," said two children, Nihal and Rimsha.

Women spent the morning preparing lavish breakfasts and festive meals for their families before joining relatives and children at outdoor venues later in the day. Visitors also enjoyed refreshments and family gatherings at various parks and open-air locations.

Heads of households were seen spending generously to fulfil the wishes of their children despite rising living costs. "Eid is primarily for children. They wanted to visit the park, so we brought them here and everyone is enjoying themselves," said a resident, Mahmood.

Large crowds were reported at Ayub National Park and other recreational sites during the evening hours. However, access to Allama Iqbal Park on Double Road near Cricket Stadium Road and Pak-Australia Food Street, remained restricted due to a one-day cricket match and practice activities.
