Spider-Noir ended its first season with a dramatic finale that reshaped the future of Nicolas Cage’s version of Spider-Man while leaving the door wide open for a potential second season.
The Prime Video and MGM+ series follows Ben Reilly, also known as The Spider, in a dark Depression-era New York inspired by classic noir storytelling. Throughout the season, Ben struggles with the burden of heroism and repeatedly questions whether he still wants the responsibility that comes with his powers.
The finale centers around a cure designed for superpowered World War II veterans who were experimented on during the war. As several enhanced villains threaten the city, Ben faces a critical decision about whether to use the cure on himself or save others instead.
In the climactic showdown, Ben chooses to save Flint Marko, also known as Sandman, sacrificing his own chance at a normal life. As a result, he remains powered at the end of the season, confirming that Spider-Noir’s story is far from over.
The finale also delivers emotional consequences for Ben personally. Cat Hardy ultimately leaves with Sandman, denying Ben the happy ending he had hoped for. Despite the heartbreak, the series closes with Ben embracing his role as a hero once again.
Several villains meet different fates during the finale. Megawatt is killed, while Sandman and Tombstone are cured and survive. The series also hints that more experimental subjects still exist, teasing the possibility of additional Spider-Man villains appearing in a future season.
According to reports from MovieWeb, the series uses its noir-inspired setting to explore themes of power, sacrifice and responsibility while reinventing the Spider-Man mythology for a darker audience.
