KARACHI:

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has announced the launch of a province-wide anti-rabies campaign, directing authorities to ensure uninterrupted availability of anti-rabies vaccines and immunoglobulin at medical centres across the province.

Chairing a meeting at the Chief Minister House, the chief minister said, the Sindh government would adopt a comprehensive strategy to eliminate preventable deaths caused by rabies through public awareness, improved treatment facilities, vaccine availability, and effective control of stray dog populations.

He termed rabies a serious but preventable issue and stressed that all relevant institutions must work together to ensure timely treatment, public awareness, and preventive measures. "Rabies is a completely preventable disease, and no citizen should lose their life due to a lack of awareness, vaccines, or timely treatment," he said.

Officials informed the meeting that over 285,000 dog-bite cases were reported in Sindh during 2025.
